TRAVEL TO WHITTLESEY

BY CAR

Whittlesey is situated about 7 miles east of Peterborough on the A605, if you are travelling to us via car we suggest you use the Park & Ride setup at Sir Harry Smith Community College which is running between 8:30am and 4:30pm and drops off/picks up from the Grosvenor Road bus station. 

Please note the Park & Ride gates close at 5:30pm as there is no evening event on at the school.

Also please note the B1040 from Thorney to Whittlesey and North Bank Road from Peterborough to Whittlesey is subject to closures due to flooding. Please keep an eye on the below links for updates closer to the day and plan alternative travel.

BY TRAIN

Whittlesea station is situated on the South side of town a short walk from the centre. Please see the below train time guide from our local station adopter, Geoff Howes. (Thank you for providing this information Geoff).

Arriving

From Ely/March – catch 09:00 from Ely or 09:20 from March to arrive at 09:30 at Whittlesea

Next train is 11:00 from Ely and 11:20 from March to arrive at 11:30 at Whittlesea.

Both of these trains also stop at Manea and Soham and come from Ipswich.

From Peterborough catch 09:50 to arrive at Whittlesea at 09:58 or the next train is

11:50 from Peterborough arriving 11:58 at Whittlesea. There is an earlier train 07:50 arriving at 07:58, but this means quite a wait in the town before events start.

Departing

For return trains to March/Ely, catch 15:59, 17:24 or 17:59. The 15:59 goes on to Ipswich, the 17:24 goes on to Cambridge. The 17:59 goes on to Ipswich.

Return trains to Peterborough: catch 15:31, 17:31 or 19:31.

BY BUS

The Grosvenor Road Bus Interchange is located in the centre of Whittlesey and receives the Stagecoach 31 and 33 services from Peterborough heading to Ramsey or March

respectively. Between these two services buses leave about every hour to/from Peterborough or every 2 hours to/from Ramsey/March.

Arriving

From Peterborough catch the 31 at 08:25 arriving at 09:00 or the 33 at 09:25 arriving at 10:00.

From Ramsey catch the 31 at 09:31 arriving at 10:03.

From March catch the 33 at 08:38 arriving at 09:28.

Departing

To Peterborough return buses leave Whittlesey at 16:03, 18:03 or 20:03. 

To Ramsey return buses leave Whittlesey at 17:00 or 19:00.

To March return buses leave Whittlesey at 16:00 or 18:00.

BY CYCLE

Whittlesey is situated on route 63 of the national cycle network, which goes between Burton-on-Trent through to Wisbech.

From Peterborough you can pick up the route near Bishops Road Recreation Ground and follow it beside the River Nene, crossing the river and in a short distance coming into Whittlesey via Stonald Road.

From the Wisbech/March side you get to see some of the Fens getting into Whittlesey via New Road.

Please note there is limited cycle parking in Whittlesey itself.
